How do I adopt a rabbit from Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue?
Start by filling out our adoption application. Once received, we’ll review your info, contact you to schedule an interview, and help match you with a bunny that fits your lifestyle. We may also request photos or a virtual tour of your rabbit’s living space.
Why is there an adoption fee? What does it include?
At Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue, the adoption fee helps cover just a portion of the actual cost it takes to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome a rabbit. While it may seem like a fee for the bunny, it’s really a contribution toward the care they've already received—and helps us save more lives.
Your adoption fee helps cover:
🩺 Spay/neuter surgery (essential for health and behavior
🐰 Health checks and vet visits
🥬 Daily food, hay, and litter supplies
🧼 Clean housing and enrichment while in foster care
💚 Ongoing support and education for adopters
On average, rescues spend much more than the adoption fee on each rabbit. Your support allows us to continue helping rabbits in need, especially those coming from neglect, hoarding cases, or abandonment.
Plus, adopting from a rescue instead of buying from a pet store helps break the cycle of overbreeding and neglect—and saves two lives: the rabbit you adopt and the next one we can take in.
Why do you require an application and interview?
Rabbits are unique and long-term companions. We want to ensure they go to homes that are prepared, bunny-safe, and committed. The process also helps us match you with a rabbit that suits your lifestyle and experience level.
Can I adopt a rabbit as a gift or for a child?
No. Rabbits should never be surprise gifts. They require adult responsibility and long-term care. If the whole family is on board, we’re happy to guide you through the process and help everyone learn how to care for a rabbit.
Do rabbits do better in pairs?
Rabbits are social, emotional animals who often thrive when bonded with another rabbit. In a healthy bond, they groom, cuddle, and communicate in ways that provide comfort, reduce stress, and prevent loneliness. Studies and real-life experience show that bonded pairs often live longer, more content lives because of this deep companionship.
However, while pairing is ideal, the reality in rescue is that so many rabbits are still waiting for a chance at life—alone in cages, shelters, or dangerous environments.
At Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue, we absolutely support and encourage bonding when it’s right. But we also recognize that:
-
Not every rabbit is immediately bondable or ready for a friend.
-
Not every adopter is ready to take on a pair right away.
-
Many rabbits will never get a chance at love or safety unless we also support single-bunny adoptions.
We believe that a loving, enriched home for a single rabbit is still far better than the alternative—being overlooked, euthanized, or left in poor conditions.
We’re here to support adopters whether they’re starting with one bunny, adopting a bonded pair, or looking to bond in the future. Every rescued rabbit matters, and every adoption saves a life.
What supplies do I need before bringing my rabbit home?
We will go over everything that you will need before bringing your bun home during the interview process!
Do you do home checks?
We may request photos or videos of the space where your rabbit will live. In some cases, we may do a virtual or in-person home visit—this helps us ensure safety and comfort for your new bunny.
Can I meet the rabbits before deciding?
Yes! We’ll schedule a meet-and-greet (in person or virtually, depending on foster location) so you can spend time with potential matches. We want this to be a great fit for everyone.
What if I need help after adoption?
We offer ongoing support! Whether it’s health, behavior, bonding, or housing advice—we’re just a message away. We’re committed to every rabbit for life, even after they leave our care.
What if things don’t work out?
If an adoption doesn’t work out, we ask that the rabbit is returned to our rescue. We never want our bunnies to end up in a shelter or unsafe environment.
