Fostering FAQs

Fostering means opening your home to a rabbit in need while the find their furever home. Since we do not have a physical facility, foster homes are what enable us to continue our mission of saving rabbits in need. You provide daily care, love, and a safe environment until the bunny is adopted. We cover the major expenses—you give the compassion and space!

It varies! Some rabbits are adopted quickly, while others need longer care—anywhere from a few weeks to several months. We’ll always work with your availability and communicate if special needs arise.

Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue provides everything necessary for your foster bunny’s care, including pellets, hay, litter, and veterinary support. We’ll work with you based on what you’re able to provide, and make sure the rest is covered—you're never on your own!

A clean, safe indoor space (like an exercise pen or bunny-proofed room), time for daily feeding, social interaction, and a watchful eye on the rabbit’s well-being. You’ll also help us learn about their personality for adoption matchmaking.

Not at all! We welcome first-time fosters and will give you all the info you need. We’ll teach you how to handle, feed, clean up after, and love your foster bunny.

Yes—many of our fosters have dogs, cats, or even other rabbits. We’ll guide you on safe introductions and how to keep your foster bunny stress-free.

It's totally normal to fall in love! Some fosters choose to “foster fail” and adopt their bunny—and that’s wonderful. But remember, every foster home makes space to save another life.

That’s okay! Even short-term or emergency fosters are incredibly helpful. We do ask for as much notice as possible if you have planned vacations or need a break. We also welcome transporters, supply helpers, and vacation coverage volunteers.
